Artist Statement

Since I was born my dad has been an art teacher. For as long as I can remember I was inspired by what he did and strived to be able to create and compose as he did so naturally.  I became obsessed with art and would draw with my dad all of the time. However, as time passed, I found an additional love in athletics and that became a major part of my life as well. My love for sports and art are an unlikely match, but one that I love to explore.

As a multimedia artist, I find myself telling a story with my art. Sometimes it is an individual piece telling the story, sometimes its the collection as a whole, most of the times it is a little bit of both. Most importantly, the works I create I tell my story. From my early years sitting next to my dad drawing and my strong foundation in family, to having the opportunity to play division one football. Through my work I tell the story of my life as an athlete and how it changed me, both the good and bad. What started as a young boy trying to be like his father, has developed into using my art to express complex emotions and tell my story as an athlete and as an artist.

Bio

Julian Bryce Pletz is an American male who focuses on Graphic Design and multimedia art. Throughout his entire life athletics were a major influence for Julian. He takes this experience and builds off of them to make designs for athletics teams jerseys, spirit wear, and graphic posts. Having been invested in sports throughout his childhood, Julian mixes his fine art experience to break the norms of athletic designs in creative ways. In addition to graphics for teams, Julian likes to use his art skills to tell his story and express his complex emotions and relationship with athletics. With heavy draws from modern cinematography, he uses composition, color, and concept to share these emotions through the pieces.
